Gothic 2 system pack 1.8 vs Union - 2025
Hello there! New to this sub, but drew so much info out of it, so thank you everyone. Just finished Gothic 1 with definitive edition (I have had a love-hate relationship with it).
I recently installed Gothic 2 NOTR and I've went through some research on how to get it running smoothly. The cleanest way to install it and getting it working was:
- Install the game
- Install gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2
- Install G2NoTR-SystemPack-1.8 > set resolution to 1920x1080
- Install Union_1.0m_26.06.2022
- Set up borderless mode in .ini files
- Set up 240 fps in .ini files
However I can't help but notice that after step 4, after installing Union, the game reverts back to 1600 x 900 resolution, although the setting appears to be 1920x1080. Also, there is an FPS drop and huge variance after Union installation in FPS and smoothness. The FPS varies non-stop at around 160-220 while on the system pack it was a locked 239-240 and felt smooth as hell.
Do you know a fix for this? Please do not say Spine as Spine literally fucks everything up (at least on Windows 11, in 2025) the game doesn't even start, it gets that stupid white border on the top left corner and more.
Right now the game runs perfectly, with alt-tabbing smoothly, but the resolution isn't "truly" 1920x1080 and it feels a lot less smoother than just with the system pack. I want to have Union too, as it fixes a lot more in general (including mouse sensitivity).
