Women of Reddit: trans people need your help.

There’s a wave of anti-trans legislation sweeping across the Midwestern and southern US. Sports bans, laws banning medicine for trans children, and even laws banning medicine for trans adults (Missouri just barely struck that bill down). Trans people are obviously affected, but what about cis women? Why even discuss this here?

The people targeting trans people for state-sanctioned cruelty are the same ones who installed anti-abortion trigger laws in many of those same states.

Abortion bans kill people. Anti-trans laws kill people. Denial of medical care for either group of people has torturous and deadly consequences. The Venn diagram of powerful people who enable these laws is a circle.

Now: what to do?

All you have to do is be a bit more vocal about your trans comrades and the issues they face. If you are unsure how to do that, just ask. We’ll gladly tell you.

don’t silence people who use the term “pregnant people” or who otherwise bring up trans issues in the abortion discourse. They aren’t talking over you. They aren’t minimizing your struggles. They aren’t silencing you.

Fascists are doing all three.

Resist fascism. Don’t fall for their tricks. Lift people up and you, yourself, will be lifted upward.
