Getting wisdom teeth out while awake?

I have 2 wisdom teeth so far, there not causing issues but if get my other 2 in they will. I would like to get them removed. I know most people get out to sleep and I would rather stay awake for mine, I did have a infected tooth pulled out and was awake for that. The tooth had no nerve as the root canal failed. How different is it, can I stay awake?
