Watch stops running! Help

I asked a friend coming from Japan to bring this as a gift for my husband.As the time and date were wrong,I set the date and time(7.25pm) correctly in the evening and kept it in the box.when I opened the box after midnight(1.15am) to see if the date and time are still right,the watch has stopped running and the time is stuck at 11 35 pm.when I touched the watch,it started working.I don't understand this.Can someone please help.Did I get a duplicate by any chance ?
