Decoy websites are cropping up for local restaurants in Vancouver

I was trying to order takeout from Silver Dragon on Fourth Plain Blvd, but noticed that the first Google result for the business' website seemed sketchy. All of the images are a.i. generated, and the text was all very generic. Also, they used Comic Sans for the header text, which is just criminal.

Going back to the search results, I found the real website was the second result. So on a lark, I decided to dig in a little further. I quickly found several identical websites posted for local Chinese restaurants in Vancouver.

What I'm guessing is that somebody is claiming Google & Yelp listings for businesses that haven't done so already, and putting their fake website in. I don't know if it's just inserting an intermediary to take a cut of transactions, or if it's just scamming people out of their money; I wasn't about to enter my credit card information to check. Just remember to be extra vigilant when doing commerce online, even when it's with local business!
