Train cancelled due to woman jumping off a bridge

I had a train to St.Davids from Bristol and just before Taunton we stayed stopped for like 30 minutes. After those 30 minutes the conductor decided to turn back to Bristol as the track still had not been cleared, even though police and paramedics had arrived a while ago. I don’t mean to be insensitive to the woman who jumped, this is not about and god bless her soul, but why does it take so long to clear the tracks? Considering you’re blocking the railway tracks of a significant amount of trains (many were cancelled), shouldn’t it be straightforward, as in clear the body from the tracks and then do the standard procedures when something like this happens?
