The Silmarillion is actually not hard to read?

Before I began to read The Silmarillion, I heard people say over and over again how hard it was to read.

I have just reached the chapter about Beren and Lúthien and haven't had much trouble with the book, unlike when I read LOTR, which I struggled with until the very end.

The only I found hard in this book is the insane number of names. I have to look at the name index and Finwë's genealogy over and over again.

I found LOTR harder because of its slow narrative and the constant descriptions of the terrain.

Also, I couldn't understand a single word of "Of Beleriand and Its Realms."
