Does Tony's development give us insights into Livia's?

Throughout the show Tony becomes more and more like Livia with the final straw being his near death experience after Junior shoots him. Could this be a parallel to Livia's own near death experience after her miscarriage? Both were miserable and had temper from the beginning (Tony in season 1 and Livia in the flashbacks to the 60s) and both came out of their near death experiences worse than before. Even Livia's death, closing her eyes and dying is similar to the cut to black at the end
