CULTURAL QUESTION
So this is aimed at those of you who are of Hispanic descent, male or female makes no difference. I’m a white male, and about 10 years ago I spent about a year or so working in Texas where I worked with mainly Hispanic men and women, and befriended a couple of special guys that I still kept in touch with for quite a while afterward. These dudes really took care of me, and to this day are some of the very best people I’ve met in my life. I recently found out that one of them have fallen on bad health, and as more or less an ode to him, I have contemplated having “güero” tatted on my abdomen, which is what he used to call me, and from what I’d gathered there was more or less a term of endearment that basically meant “whitey” or some other form of blonde-y.
Straight to the point now; would it seem offensive and/or for lack of better words, cringe, for me to pay homage to my good friend like this? Seeing as I’m your average American man who only speaks surface level basic Spanish I guess. Serious post by the way. 😅
