How does your behavior change while traveling?
Been traveling a lot in Mexico and Central America, and around Nosara, Costa Rica, I’m encountering more aggression than anywhere I’ve ever surfed. Surfers are wildly unfriendly, everyone seems pissed off, etiquette is out the window, and the locals demand ‘respect’ but give none. I assume it’s due to a lot of angst from the surf industry boom, and transplant agro from other tourists local spots. In other places and even prior visits to Guanacaste, local surfers seemed pretty nice and chill.
I practice good surf etiquette, but typically get a lot of waves, which seems to piss people off. A lot of those waves around here are usually after someone gets a close out or misses a paddle in, since I try to not push into the main peaks.
