How do you tackle big books?
Big book readers,
do you have any tips on how to finish a big/thick book?
I can be a slow reader regarding big books(like 400-500+ pages). It can take me about a month (yes, I'm that slow) to finish it. I feel a little self-conscious when I see on Goodreads that people can finish a book that size in about a week 🥲, so what can I (or anyone who also feels this way) finish reading future reads that size?
PS- Thank you to everyone who commented; I read every single one 🥲. I feel extra motivated and mentally prepared to read some of the big books I plan to read for this year. I think I still have the mentality of trying to read a book fast, like I have a quiz or paper due for class (even though I graduated), or I'm trying to read as much as I can to reach my reading challenge goal and worry I won't achieve that goal in time.
The majority of the advice ya’ll commented: * Reading at my pace/ one page at a time- that felt like the wake-up call I needed; I'll definitely go a my own pace and savor the book. * Audiobooks - I don't really/ never try to listen to audiobooks, but I would like to try and do that. * Dividing the book into sections- I'm mad at myself and never thought of that. * Reading (smaller) books in between- could help; I have some ebooks I want to read in case I don't want to carry them around.
