Sheila Jackson is the best written character on shameless
She’s the only character in the entire show who gets a proper stable story arc from beginning to end. She starts out as a co- dependent house wife with agoraphobia then ends up being an independent free woman who travels the world. Sheila overcoming her agoraphobia was done so well, it wasn’t just magically fixed over night, it was a process we saw slowly happen, still done very theatrical but I’m glad it wasn’t just one event that just simply made it go away, and never mentioned again. The co-dependency goes through quite a few cycles as actual co-dependency doe’s, with her using Frank to detach from Eddie, and then wanting children/a family in general to cope with it, eventually overcoming it with so much trial and error. She’s just a pure soul who was traumatized by the hardships of Chicago who loves her daughter unconditionally. Eventually spitting in that city’s face and telling it to fuck off. To me it was beautiful. It sucks that she had to go in the middle of the series but rather that than them butchering her character like they did everyone else. If not the best written, definitely the only character with a respectable send off.
