Porsche 914 restomod including K24 swap
I’ve loved the look of these cars since I saw the first one when I was 14 (currently 29). I’ve also been a devout Honda fan as my dad is a mechanic and I’ve seen Hondas survive things no machine should ever have to go through.
A family friend said I could buy his for fairly cheap if I dug it out of a collapsed double wide that he’d stored it in 5 years before. It was a gamble but it paid off. When I got it, it had previously homed a diesel vw motor that was removed as well as the transaxle. For a little more money the guy I bought it from said I could have all the 914 parts I’d need.
I bought a JDM k24A motor that showed up on a broken pallet 3 weeks later, a Haltech elite 1500 and wiring harness and the guy at Kennedy Motorsports about fell over when I asked them to make the engine adapter but they obliged and it was perfect. Fast forward with some wheels from an 85 firebird I milled out for the lug pattern, some obnoxious fender flares and some John Deere green paint and I’ve got a mid engine 2100lb 5 speed car with an 8k redline and it is all that was meant to be.
