The Space Coast Aquarium Society is venturing into Orlando to host a huge tropical fish/plant auction this Saturday!

If you're already into aquariums, are looking to get into a hobby with a growing local community, or simply want to see what an aquarium auction is like, a club that I am a part of is hosting quite the event this Saturday in east Orlando! The main event is an auction with hundreds of bags of freshwater fish and plants, for the most part, bred, grown, and raised by people from around central Florida (I myself am bringing about 35 species of aquatic plants!). There will also be some local aquarium-related vendors and such, but the highlight is the auction itself.

In brief, it's going to be at the Holiday Inn off of Alafaya and Colonial. Doors open at 10am, Saturday, January 25. Auction starts at 12pm, and goes until the last thing is sold. There are no fees to pass by and you don't need to be a member to participate (as a buyer or a seller). Though, if you do intend on bringing things to auction, you'll get a better split (the club takes a cut to fund itself).

The club is primarily all organized on Facebook, so if you're on that, you can find the event by searching for "The SCAS Tropical Splash - An Astronomical Freshwater Fish and Plant Auction!" or the club, by looking up it's names. Otherwise, you're welcome to pm me or reply with any questions.

The Space Coast Aquarium Society (SCAS) is, as their name implies, based out of Titusville. They have monthly meetings in which a speaker is invited to give a talk about some niche aquarium-related topic, and a much smaller auction than this takes place. There's actually a good bunch of us from Orlando that go out there every month, as there's nothing of the sort currently organized around here. But it's worth the 1hr trip, as it's a nice lil community get together. If you've got any questions pertaining to that or even just questions about aquaria, feel free to lmk too! Or come by and say hi at the auction - I'll be one of the auctioneers for some time!
