Need opinions on how to power a RTX 5090.

Hello everyone,

I’m writing this post because I managed to get a RTX 5090 gigabyte gaming oc last week and I still haven’t build my new rig yet. With all the alleged issues around the connector I’m wondering what I should do to power my card.

Here is my situation : I have a hx1500i from CORSAIR and I can power my card by either using:

  • the 4x8 adaptor that comes with the card (not sure if I can use these because I have a fractal Torent case, the psu is on the top of the case and thus far from the gpu, the usual cable lenght is generally not enough)

  • A brand new 12v-2x6, 600w certified, cable from cablemod in a 3x8 pin to 12v-2x6 configuration that I bought few weeks ago.

  • A 12VHPWR cable from the psu that I’ve been using since late 2023. So what would be the best course of action ? I would personnaly tend to use my new cable which add some redundancy compared to my old cable ( I could also buy the 4x8 configuration from cablemod and use the other in the meantime)

Thank you for the help !
