Documenting unwitnessed medication

Hi y’all! This is a throwaway account. I am looking for advice regarding a situation at work.

I work in the operating room. Sometimes the surgeons want to administer a local anesthetic in the pre op area for their local (awake, just numbed) cases. We were told that we need to document this med in our MAR even though we did not witness this medication being administered. We were told that the pre op nurse will document in the comment section of the local injection timeout and that we will have to look there and then document it into the MAR.

The OR nurses said we were uncomfortable with documenting a medication we did not actually witness be given.

What are your opinions and how should we proceed?
