Anti-vaxers and their anti science are noticably rising in healthcare in the US

Long time lurker in this sub. I know some of this has been covered before.

I've been an ED nurse for 6 years and paramedic before that for 5 years. I only ever remember meeting one nurse with a Russian background who was an anti-vaxer before 2016. I live in a large metropolitan, predominantly liberal city btw. In the last 2 years about 4 ED nurses or so left with their spouses to FL due to their conservative views on vaccines and masks. Their spouses are all either cops, fire, or EMS. We still have a couple antivax nurses in the ED, one of which who believes he was diagnosed as a type I diabetic as child because it was triggered by the flu vaccine (as he was told by his mother).

Fast forward to today when I experienced even further disappointment in the reality of where healthcare is and where it is heading. I am at my FNP primary care internship with multiple other students, all of which are white 20-something year old females from the suburbs. It's after election day and things were bound to come up in conversation. I was floored when I mentioned how RFKs pseudoscience influence is going to be terrible for our already horrific healthcare system, and they all were in friendly opposition. Glowing optimism for his views on vaccines were conveyed to me by all 3 of them. I was dumbfounded.

It wouldn't shock me if in 5-10 years antibiotics, chemo, and a host of other treatments are endemicly scrutinized by misinformation by "free thinkers" and given credibility by our lousyily educated Nurses and Advanced Practice Nurses.

How do you even combat this? Is this happening to MDs and PAs too? I feel like it's necessary to ask from now on, if Im ever in a situation where I or a family are patients to a provider, to ask what their viewpoints on vaccines are first before getting care from them (obviously not in an Emergency situation).

A few things I happen to notice about this situation. Way too many female nurses are more educated than their spouses about vaccine science and healthcare overall, but willfully choose to just follow what they are told politically which is disheartening to watch. NP programs are filled with younger and younger nurses who have little bedside experience and are looking to make bank at health spas/clinics and aren't takimg their education seriously. I can't blame them for the latter when our NP educations primary focus is paper writing and online discussion posts. Lastly, as male veteran I notice a lot of males entering into nursing with military backgrounds because of how competitive getting into a PD or FD is. They are mostly conservative and always vocal and dominant about it while at work, even when nobody fucking asks.

I really don't see any hope of the situation getting any better.
