Doing your own version of a song.

Hello, I’ve been making my own music for about a year. I decided to further improve my song arrangement by rebuilding songs I like from scratch these past weeks. I like to do it by ear, I don’t have a good relative pitch but I can make the songs be on the same key because when I put them side by side there’s no dissonance. But I noticed a can’t figure out how to play the chord or riff exactly as it is on the original song but it sounds similar. Is it okay to do this? Is it fine just getting close to the sound and not playing it exactly as it is? Will people notice and dislike it?
