Spyder Plan Ideas - Swap?

Hi! I am looking for some suggestions and experiences with what to do with my Spyder. It’s a 2002 with over 100k miles. Came with an aftermarket header to fix the precat issues. No rust, no other issues. Weekend car and I have garage space.

In short, I screwed up buying it. It’s not nice enough to keep all original but runs great so any modifications are “fixing something that isn’t broken”.

Here are my ideas:

  1. Get good wheels and tires, sway bars and maybe some light exhaust work. Cheap and a good foundation.
  2. 2ZZ swap - budget bare bones ($?) full monkey wrench kit with 6spd and lsd ($5k)
  3. K20/K24 swap - local speed shop quoted roughly $10k for a turnkey K24 NA swap. He has the “low mile” motor/trans on hand. Was recently rebuilt with stronger internals with full documentation. Likely around 300whp.
  4. Sell it and buy something like a Cayman or some other project.

My hesitation lies in not knowing what the end product will be. The shop is well respected but throwing $10k at a car likely worth less than that seems risky. Upside is I should end up with an awesome car.

What do you think?
