veins hurt

so last year in september, i (16m) was in the hospital for 9 days. got diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, they couldn’t draw my blood for a while because of inflammation, etc etc.

i had 3 iv’s when i was there because of a bunch of problems. with my first iv, my upper arm swelled up super bad and was burning hot. it went down on its own. got a second iv in my other arm, and the saline burned really bad going in. the nurses said it shouldnt have burned, but they kept using it. couldnt draw blood out of it, the usual. they poked me in my hand to give me a blood transfusion, but they couldnt pull anything out of it after that.

the pain in my arms was excruciating, one of the worst pains in my life, i couldn’t move them, had to have nurses and my mom help me. when i went home, the pain was only worse. i had to keep my arms at a very specific position, or else they’d start hurting so bad that i’d break down ugly crying. i went to the store with my arms bent in that position and i felt like i looked stupid, lol. only lasted a week, though.

anyways, its been a year now. ever since then, ive had pains in where i got my iv’s in my veins. sometimes when im using my arm, i’ll get this random shooting pain and i was wondering if anyone else experienced this, or if anyone knew the cause. here are some pictures of what the iv’s looked like, in case they look wrong in any way, and some of the bruises i had after.
