Failed LASIK procedure, what should I do next?

Today I went in to get LASIK done, got the flap cut in both eyes & when the doctor was trying to peel the flap back I hear him say “this isn’t gonna work”

I can tell/see he is fiddling with it then eventually tells me the flap is cut too thin & he does not want to proceed due to complications with the flap healing properly. He offered to go through with the procedure on one eye or just do nothing, which I opted for nothing because having one good eye seemed sort of ridiculous.

I have never heard of this happening, not sure what to do. Doctor said it is very rare, not his fault, mentioned I might have some genetic issue that causes me to have thin cornea or something? I am so confused because I went through two exams before getting surgery, I feel like this should have been noticed.

I currently have blurred vision in the eye he fiddled with. He suggested coming back for PRK at a later date, I said why would I want to go through this again?

Any suggestions? Someone told me I should get a second opinion from an ophthalmologist? I am worried of permanent damage, or further complications down the road.

Any advice or opinion is appreciated, thanks.
