U.S. scientists: what now?
Things are clearly going in a bad direction. First the NIH, now the NSF. While it is unclear what exactly the future looks like, it is likely that it will become increasingly hard to get grants and for many labs to continue.
How can we, at the ground level, reduce the damage of these decisions?
The only thing I can think of is increased collaboration and sharing of resources and methods. Also Establishing networks where we can help each other as a community. If we can lessen the cost and waste of day to day research, it may provide funds to help researchers stay afloat.
That and maybe getting fisher scientific and other Walmart-like science supply stores to lobby for us.
Any ideas?
