India might not reduce import duties/taxes just for USA based automobiles

I don't think India would reduce the import duties on USA based automobiles. Here's why..

USA gonna tax Indian bikes more? Not a problem! AFAIK the only Indian brand that has a lot of exports to USA is Royal Enfield. KTM's entry level bikes like the 390 duke and adv might get hit. Maybe the rs457 too since they are manufactured and exported from India. But these companies have the funds to set up a factory there. KTM and Aprilia have alternative solutions. And the USA market doesn't care so much about these bikes since they have a lot of alternatives. So RE would be the only one that either needs to come up with a solution.

And India cannot reduce the import taxes JUST for USA, which would make other countries mad. Companies are slowly starting to take India seriously. They are slowly setting up factories here in India, tying up with Indian brands for manufacturing to being their entry level bikes in. Talking about Triumph, Aprilia and Harley. Japanese brands are slowly taking note on India. You wouldn't wanna undo all that and break their trust. They'd feel cheated if we now decrease the import duties.

Moreover the only USA motorcycle brands that are worth it are Harley Davidson and Indian. Literally no other USA based motorcycle brands matter. And even then their market share in India is already low.

Even if you take cars, the only major USA based manufacturers are Chevrolet, Ford and Jeep. Tesla is another maybe. Chevy is out of India, Ford has a manufacturing plant here already. For all the rest we have good alternatives in India.

Now tell me, are Harley Davidson, Indian, Jeep, Tesla worth sabotaging our entire automobile industry? No!

So don't bank on India reducing the import duties for automobiles. If you think about it, it's actually gonna be bad for us in the long run if we reduce the import duties just for USA based automobiles.
