Adult league game has me questioning playing next season.
Well after our recent game, I’m over here questioning whether or not I should stop playing mens league and just do stick times maybe a different route or quit the team I’m on, try to get added on somewhere else? I’m at a loss at this point. Losing confidence…
I’ve only been playing “seriously” for 2 years as of January. Been with this team going on the 3rd season. Never been coached, motorcycle accident 9 years ago has me somewhat limited but I can still play and compete with some of the quicker guys in our C1 level men’s league.. Mostly self-taught, lots of videos, tips from other people I’m skating with and whatnot. I wouldn’t consider myself a playmaker by any means but I can hold onto the puck and bring it in the zone and play a game without ending up on my bum (at least by my own fault). If I can get the right shot it’ll go in but our team as a whole doesn’t get many shots in games to begin with. We have 1 win this season..
We lost 7-0, I usually play wing. Last night on the first goal against our goalie threw a hissy fit. Yelling and screaming profanities saying I suck, yada yada. But yes, unbeknownst to me I apparently screened the shot. Looked at live barn and yea didn’t realize it but totally got in front of the guy shooting. Felt I was in position and playing my guy, pressing the player to make a decision… I’m not sure why I’m so meh about the whole deal but it literally ruined my mindset for the entire game and I made some other bad plays cause I started over thinking things instead of just playing... Instead of a, hey you should be here and pushing that way in this situation vs you f***king suck and terrible. Not even sure what he said exactly and felt I should’ve confronted him but didn’t, had an opportunity but wasn’t like I was gonna follow the dude into the parking lot… He is supposed to be my teammate…
Should I just forget it and let goalies be goalies? Am I overthinking this junk… The other defense pair who usually comes to hang at the bar after said I shouldn’t think much of it but I never hear him doing that to other players I’m just at a loss..
