Would this be offensive?

So my fursona isn't any specific animal just a mix of a bunch of big cats, and I was thinking of having the design altered to be a Komainu from Japanese legend since they're my favorite mythical creature. However, I realized that seeing as I am a white American, that it may be offensive/cultural opropriation. Would I be okay to make this change or would I be disrespectful if I did?
