Help me understand lenses and full frame equivalents.

Hi,

I have a Fuji XT5 & I’m trying to understand crop sensors, its impact on the lens and how to better understand the full frame equivalents.

As I understand Fuji crop sensors are cropped by 1.5. Which means if I want an achieve the equivalent of a 50mm lens on full frame then I need a lens with a focal length if 33mm or 35mm on a crop sensor.

Does that mean if I am told “you need a 50 mm and 85 mm lens or “equivalent”. In relation to the crop sensor I actually need a 35mm & 56mm respectively? Or do I get 50mm and 85mm lens?

I understand that by using a 35mm on a crop sensor I get the same field of view as the 50mm in FF but the focal length is different so do I need to adjust my distance from the subject to account for the change in focal length as compared to a FF 50mm?

Apologies I’m just finding this a difficult topic to understand. I’m struggling to understand what lens do I need.
