2006 anime was kina peak

I recently started watching stay night, and started with the 2006 anime. I’d heard people recommend skipping it, but I wanted to give it a shot, and ended up loving it. I haven’t played the game, so it’s my first impression of the franchise, but I can’t understand why people dislike it so much!
