My grandparent always goes quiet when his daughter is in the room.
Hi everyone - Advice needed.
My Grandad (76m) has recently moved in with his daughter (49F) (my aunt) as he decided to move out of his home and give it to his first grandchild (which is the aunts son). Ever since he has moved into her house things have changed with him. For example - he barely contacts me or his other grandchildren anymore. - He never answers the phone. - Me or my sister is not allowed contact him, we have to speak through our aunt if we want to contact him.
It's super odd.. for context my father (his son) passed away 2 years ago. My grandad has always been in our life's and rang us constantly to see how we were before and after my dad has passed.
But recently I've noticed he is not himself when my aunt is around. Me and my sister barely go see him by himself because my aunt always has to be there. But the minute he's alone he is like himself! As soon as she walks in it's like you have to force a conversation out of him.
I tried ringing him a few times and it was like I was blocked.. no calls would go through or ring.
I don't know, I thought maybe I was overthinking but I'm definitely not as I've seen this happen daily with my grandad - he's fine when she's not around but doesn't talk when she is. Not allowed visit or contact him personally - only through my aunt.
If anyone has been in a similar situation or has any advice on what to do can you please let me know! It's upsetting me a lot as I'm extremely close to my grandad but the past few months has been off..
Thank you
