Sharing to messenger, only two recents? (android)

I've used messenger lite for as long as I can remember, and sharing there was easy, all the people I actually share stupid stuff with are at the top of the list, sorted by how recently I've shared.

Now that we've been forced over to (bloated) messenger, whenever I try sharing stuff EVEN FROM FACEBOOK APP, all I get is two recent contacts and then I have to search for the rest. The rest of the screen/scroll is taken up by "Suggested", a weirdly sorted list of "friends" I haven't spoken to for years!

Anyone know a way to get rid of the "suggested" list, and only have recents?
