It’s weird when people say someone makes something their whole personality

To me it just sounds like people who have a really big special interest in something, like Disney adults or super dedicated sport fans. Truly, a person can have multiple hobbies and interests but people seem to only be able to focus on one trait of theirs, and especially worse when this label is applied to identities like to anyone who is gay, trans, disabled, what have you.
