I walked into a friend’s house and immediately said “what’s that smell!?”

She was in the middle of cooking dinner and goes “oh yeah, it’s awful right? I think I spilled grease in a spot that I can’t get to while cleaning because it’s been smelling like this for a few weeks”. After much pushback from her I finally convinced her to let me pull out the electric stove and this is what we found. 4 smoke detectors in the house, not a single battery in any of them. Glad I got there when I did.
