The Monk is balanced in 5e?

Hello everyone. I’m going to be the GM for an RPG campaign aimed at people with social and mental problems in my clinic, and I decided to introduce DnD 5e. One of the players expressed interest in playing as a Monk, but the problem is I’m not sure if the class is balanced compared to the other classes. We should consider that combat isn’t the only element that makes up each class's abilities; there is also exploration and social interaction. Taking combat, exploration, and socialization into account, should I keep the Monk as it is, or is there a homebrew that balances it compared to the other classes?
