Weekend away

Myself and a friend were thinking of going away for a weekend in June and was thinking of going to kilkenny, I've never been there so be nice for a change of scenery. What's it like? We're both in our 30s so not exactly looking for a pissup but things to do and nice bars /restaurants would be a plus !
