Help! Weird bump on my plaster wall

So this bump seemed to show up out of nowhere. It's located high on the inside of an exterior wall, and it's very hard to the touch. Nothing on the exterior of the house looks unusual (there is no evident water damage to the siding or roof). I really appreciate any thoughts about what could have caused this.
