Farewell my sweet Luxi
A week ago I had to say my goodbyes to my sweet 7 year old budgie Luxi. She wasnt feeling well since the Saturday before. We went to emergency vet, sadly they didn't have an avian vet on duty for emergencies but were able to contact one during the visit. She had trouble saying up right and didn't like putting any pressure on her right leg. The vet concluded it was a sprained leg, and gave some pain killers to help her rest a bit easier. In the coming week I gave her the pain killers as perscribed and she actually started using het leg a bit more as well.
In the mean time my 4 month old linnie accompanied her everywhere (as seen in the video). Another budgie and another linnie also took turns watching over her. Probably knowing what I did not. As she passed away Friday night, a day after my birthday.
I brought her to the vet to get a pathology report since I found it odd her leg strain could've killed her. Turned out she had gout. Most likely due to kidney issues. She had a healthy diet of Harrison pallets and fresh vegetables plus always fresh water. So my guess is she just had bad luck.
You can see some kind of wart on her right leg, right in between her toes. So all I can say is. If you see that, call a vet that moment. Maybe it's not to late for you.
I'm gonna miss her. She was so darn cute in everything she did, and such a soft and loving fluffball.
