feeling like a sitting duck // wait times for treatment
man, i would think having TNBC would make healthcare professionals give you top priority but not currently feeling that way.
feeling like a sitting duck, as we’ve wasted over 2 months with inaccurate diagnosis. at the beginning of september, we were dealing with an inflamed breast and given amoxicillin by PCP. (thinking it was mastitis or cellititus) which did not help.
2 weeks later we were told to go to the ER to get IV antibiotics since no response to amox. was in the hospital for a week on intervenious antibiotics, had a CT, mammo, ultrasound AND PET that showed “nothing” but inflammation. was released to be given 4 rounds in outpatient after 5 days in the hospital.
a week and 1/2 later, went to a breast specialist appointment where they did a punch biopsy (thinking it could be inflammatory breast cancer) and core needle biopsy. waited ANOTHER week for results because pathology was backed up.
finally got diagnosis yesterday of a 2mm at 8:00 on my left breast, now waiting until thursday for oncologist appointment and next week for breast MRI. triple negative and all the pathology report of being fast growing/possible lymph node invasion.
have your experiences been the same with wait times? im so concerned that this will spread before they even start chemo.
