Something about Duke Nukem that I still cannot believe is how the franchise basically ended with the third game
Because while I get why DNF is heavily ridiculed for its presentation, I still cannot believe how the franchise ended as throughout the 90s, the series was building up to something epic.
Like the first two games themselves were typical platformers, but as the series was evolving in the 90s, it eventually culminated in Duke Nukem 3D, which in a lot of ways had been the beginning and ending of the franchise.
My point is that I miss the franchise as I understand what was wrong with DNF in its writing, but I sometimes wish there were modern FPSes with snarky protagonists as without Duke Nukem around, it feels like something is missing.
Secondly, I am still baffled by how long DNF itself took to make as even Daikatana came out a lot sooner in Spring 2000, so the fact that the aforementioned DNF did not come out until at least 10 years later is saying something about the game’s production history.
