A unpopular take of mine: Werner Ziegler is overhated

Firstly I will concede that I actually do think this character is supposed to be disliked. His idiocy is clearly supposed to be irritating. So I'm not exactly going to say the audience has responded incorrectly by not being his biggest fans.

I also don't think he is supposed to be a good person. While he did not know that the construction was going to be a meth lab, he clearly knew it was illegal, hence all the secrecy. And yet agreed to take the job.

My last concession is that I don't think Mike should be judged for shooting him. The alternative was letting Gus's other thugs take care of it and there's no saying how they would have killed Werner. This was a justified mercy killing from Mike plainly and simply. And I say that as someone who actually doesn't like Mike very much.

However I still find the general response to this character quite disturbing, because I see quite alot people say that Gus himself was justified in ordering his death because he couldn't be trusted to keep the operation a secret. Killing someone in order to get away with being a drug lord does not qualify whatsoever as a justification. By that logic Walt was correct to let Jane die and to order the prison hit to prevent his own exposure. EDIT: Also this would mean Walt was justified in ordering a hit on Jesse.

Also another defence given is that "Werner was in the game though", but considering peole condemn Mike's own murder all the time I think it's rather hypocritical to only use the "in the game" defence when it's a character you don't like who gets killed.

Seriously, fuck Gus.

EDIT 2:

To those using the argument "Werner was in the game and a liability to Gus, so I understand why he did it", this would also mean Gus was justified in having Nacho killed, as Nacho knew too much as well.
