Chuck and Jimmy

Watching BCS for the first time years after I watched BB and it’s so good.

One thing I noticed in this forum is a lot of people seem to think Chuck was right all along about Jimmy. It’s clearly intended to be the opposite: when someone close to you has such a low opinion of you and a fixed idea of you, it’s hard to escape that. This happens in families a lot — often with a parent figure but sometimes a sibling. Chuck took a fragment from Jimmy (slipping Jimmy) and wove that into a whole person. He could have just as easily recognised that the flip side of such traits (good at talking and persuading people) are attributes of a good lawyer and encouraged his brother. People need someone to believe in them. This really makes Jimmy one of the most tragic characters in television. He is whoever his brother believes him to be.
