This Ireland trip really points out how much they are not actual farmers
To be gone for 12 weeks with as many different animals as they have in the middle of winter really drives it home.
If you’re not familiar with raising livestock, winter/when babies are being born is your busy season. Those seasons can be separate times but they are still very very busy. They are busy because you are literally feeding everything every day. And they have how many different species?? I imagine it takes hours to do all those chores, even without the dairy. So to just leave for 12 weeks!! means they have lots and lots of people doing their chores for them. Hopefully those people are getting paid decently.
Their lack of concern for the farm while they’re gone also strikes me. I completely trust the people we have do chores for us while we are gone but I still worry! It’s a bit like having a kid. The only time I’ve ever been gone for more than 2 weeks (which took us 8 months of planning pre-baby!!) was when I was gone for an actual life or death emergency. And even in that situation my husband was at the farm 6 nights a week still.
They are cosplayers and I sincerely hope some of their followers start to understand.
