Facial expressions

Hi me (19NB) and my boyfriend (20M) went on a date today, we gave each other gifts but I think my face didn't show how exited I was. He gifted me Pokemon cards and a lamp from my especial interest but I could only say "oh that's really cute" or "I like this one" when opening the cards, I don't smile a lot so I know my face wasn't super excited and I felt like my words came out fake, he didn't complained or anything but I'm afraid he'll feel like I didn't like his gifts when I loved them. We also went eating and I felt like I was just staring at him like an Espurr the whole time while eating. How do I express my excitement/emotions better?
