Is this a common lie recruiters tell? I’m really hurt.
So I had applied for a data engineering graduate program at the company I did my internship at and was I invited to have an interview with them for the role. So out of excitement - I prepped for this interview for 3 weeks, revising and practicing some sql and python because part of the interview was a technical assessment. It was scheduled for this Friday. At this point I’m confident I’m gonna get it because of the effort I put in.
Monday comes and I get an email from the recruiter saying that they decided to freeze the hiring process based on some unforeseen company developments within the company. I’m sad but also okay with it. But today I find out that one of the people that interviewed on Monday has just received an email saying that they have moved on to the next phase of the interview. This hurt so much I almost fell to my knees at the gym when she told me.
It hurts that I didn’t even get the chance to fail the interview. I think it would’ve hurt less if I was given a chance to atleast prove myself - I’m guessing that’s what the interview are about. But to be honest I’m really happy for her just sad.
Is this a common lie that they tell? Because they made it seem like all hiring was stopped.
To be honest - I don’t even know why I’m writing this. I guess I just needed to get it out somehow because I don’t have anyone to talk to about this as yet. I feel much better now after having written this actually 😅
