Place to hangout, visitors from UK 🇬🇧

My girlfriend and I are leaving shortly for a trip to the US, including a night in Amarillo on our way to DFW.

We're both British and in our early 20s, and we have only ever visited the classic American tourist spots (New York, California, Florida etc), so we look forward to visiting the south of the US, particularly Texas.

We'd be grateful if anyone has any recommendations for cool places to hang out, ideally with a younger crowd, and somewhere we can get the true Texas Experience (but preferably somewhere we'll be comfortable/fit in with our accents!!) We are staying Downtown at the Courtyard.
