how do i use microsoft balance to purchase xbox games

i got 3 20$ xbox gift cards, and as it said on the back, i redeemed them on the microsoft website. however, when i try to buy a game, it will not give me the option to use my microsoft balance. the pictures show that i do indeed have the money but i don't have the option to use it.
