Swelling and itching after sex?

I only have sex around 1-2 times a month, but every time I do, it hurts very bad upon insertion and I usually have to take ibuprofen immediately after for the pain/soreness. This has probably been going on for around 3 or 4 months now.

The area will be swollen, itchy, and painful (mostly around the inside) for about 2-3 days afterwards. It feels like I have tears inside of me. I haven’t noticed an increase in discharge or anything; I basically have no symptoms outside of having sex.

I’ve read that it could potentially be a yeast infection. Should I try OTC creams for that? What would be the best options? I don’t believe that its BV because I’ve had that in the past and my symptoms were much more severe (it was more painful, had a smell, and i had extra symptoms on my period that I don’t have now). But sex is usually painful for me regardless, but typically not to the point where I experience swelling and pain days afterwards.
