Advice needed!

I'm a level 34 storm wizard and this is my first time ever playing through the game! I'm a little stumped rn because all I've been doing is questing but I feel like I'm missing out on stuff only the more experienced know about… anyways I have a plethora of questions… here are only a few… What should I be doing? What can I do to make myself stronger? What are most important for me to accomplish? What should I strive for? What sub school should I train into? Any pets that would be perfect for storm? And so on and so forth… thank you so much for your time and any insight would be greatly appreciated!
