Just had the weirdest interaction with my next door neighbour

I was just outside getting some air and checking on my fruit trees since they are almost ready to harvest, and I kinda zoned out thinking about making a pie from the plums on my tree. Then my neighbours dog noticed me and started barking, and I looked at him and thought "what a cute dog, he looks very similar to my friends dog" and was admiring his cute face then the neighbour noticed me looking and says "Are you looking into our yard?" And I said no, I'm just outside and I noticed your dog" and she said "but why are you just standing there staring into our yard?" So i told her I was getting some fresh air and checking on the plants, then I saw her dog. I actually can't even see the yard from where I'm standing, just her dog next to the bushes and she said "okay, but your just standing right there, next to our yard" and I said "I didn't mean to, I zoned out for a second, I'm walking around the whole garden" then she said "okay then" and went inside and I heard her loudly say to someone else "the neighbour is fucking nosy and looking in our yard" which again, I wasn't.

Then I move around the opposite side of my house to check on my strawberry plants and then I hear the neighbours partner and son calling out "mind your own business, don't look in our yard!"

Am I crazy? I was outside for less than a minute and looked at the dog for maybe like 3 seconds before this woman comes out and accuses me of staring into her yard, which I can't even see from my side of the property. Seems like a weirdly defensive response to seeing a neighbour outside.
