Disproving the statement "FME has no anterior skeletal expansion".
Here is a CBCT image I shared awhile ago.
FME expansion (3 mm expansion at this point, continued further)
Axial view (parallel expansion)
So far this seems to be the case for all of the FME cases. The arch seems to decompensate naturally as the expansion progresses, also reducing the amount of orthodontics needed. This is actually a good thing, because it's much gentler on the teeth, bone, gums, etc. As opposed to expansions like Yousefian has shown where the teeth tip in the other direction due to the dental expansion.
Just wanted to share this, as I heard some doctors are falsely claiming for a fact that FME has zero skeletal expansion in the front. 100% not true. EASE has the same phenomenon with a smaller diastema in fact. Because there is significantly less dental expansion, you can expand the airway much more before "hitting the limit of expansion" like Dr. Li mentioned in his "My Perspective" video. Cone-shaped expansion among other things leads to a more pronounced diastema. All of the expansion gets focused at the diastema, like a magnifying glass.
In regards to UARS, it is orthopedic expansion that is beneficial, not dental expansion. I cannot emphasize that enough. Looking at the teeth is going to be misleading.
edit: also some people mentioned, oh my god his mandible is moving, something went wrong??? no.. he just opened his mouth during the scan guys. his bite is actually way better without any ortho than any MSE or custom.
