"Woman=Lock : Man=Key", evolutionary slut-shaming, and other sad repeated phrases

I just... the amount of times I've seen that godforsaken analogy "a good key opens many locks, but a shitty lock is opened by many keys" on Reddit let alone elsewhere makes me want to pull my hair out

Yet another thread today wherein a man was decrying his partner's newly discovered sexual history (group sex, the horror!) had this line scattered about in what seemed like 10% of the comments, if not more. Alongside it was the lovely, incredibly pseudoscientific belief that "we feel shame toward women who 'sleep around' because evolution made women want to choose one partner and men many partners, so going against that feels icky" repeated as nauseum. Not to mention the thousand of comments calling this poor woman "the town bicycle", "worn out", or just straightforwardly "a whore"

And then they have the audacity to sit there and say these statements aren't misogynyistic

I'm truly just in disbelief that with all the technological marvels we've produced as a species, that we still have to deal with this bullshit. Let alone having it be as disturbingly rampant as it is

Legit, how do y'all stop from losing your minds dealing with/thinking about this? Apart from disconnecting and shutting yourself away from the world entirely? I feel the mental boom incoming, but also ashamed when I pull away as if I'm not doing my part to push back against the tide of hate
