no, you are not allowed to love america!

i have made numerous posts to this sub about how america has a patriotism epidemic that is preventing progress from happening. in a post where i said that patriotism is the new nazism, there was a comment that said "we're not allowed to love america"?

to be quite blunt, no you are not!

you don't get to love this country as long as guns have more rights then women do. you don't get to love this country as long as it's citizens are forced to choose between medical treatment and crippling debt. you don't get to love this country as long as the american people keep electing republicans into office. you don't get to love this country as long as 8.025 billion people who live here live in poverty. you don't get to love this country as long as ICE kidnaps innocent people and puts them in detention camps. you don't get to love this country as long as hate speech and misinformation go unchallenged.

how dare you love this country! how dare you profess that this country is the greatest country on the face of the earth! how dare you spread that lie across the world to the point where immigrants who seek a better life end up trapped in this hellhole! how dare you put your hand over your heart for the national anthem! you don't deserve that! you don't deserve any of that!

you are not allowed to love america. and if you do, you are part of the problem.
